WinterRegional Championships are coming soon and are targeted to be held during the month of April.  

Regional Championships are a great time! This gives you the opportunity to meet and compete against some of the best players in your area. 

ALL PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE AN E-MAIL INVITATION IF YOU QUALIFIED.  IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE AN E-MAIL, PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SPAM FILTER OR LOG ON AND CHECK UNDER MY EVENTS!

WE'VE GOT SOME BIG CHANGES FOR REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!  These changes will take place for the Spring 2008 Season

 

 

Please keep the following things in mind...

 

   You need to be 21 to play in Regionals and must have ID with you.

   Some regional championships conflict with a few TOC championships at your bar.  Check with your bar as we have rescheduled the TOC events for them.

   The Top Players from these Regional Championships will be playing in the Winter National Championships in Fall 2008 in Las Vegas.

REGIONAL RULES & GUIDELINES

 

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES ABOUT QUALIFIED REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

 

*A qualified regional championship is defined by a minimum of 5 bars in your Area

 

Dates, Locations and Times are subject to change. Please check the website often to make sure you have the most up to date information.

 

You must be 21 to play in a Regional Championship because the winners move on to the Nationals at a Casino!

 

You will need ID to check into a Regional Championship so we know you are actually the qualified player.

 

Locations -We attempt to keep all Regional Championships within 90 minutes of the included bar, however this is not always possible due to bar size limitations and locations. Please remember that this is a REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and not a “2 mile away championship”, so please bear with us as we attempt to accommodate as many people as we can.

 

Invitations - E-mail invitations go out before each event (sometimes just a few days before because of timing). If you do not get an e-mail but feel you qualified, you can log onto www.WorldTavernPoker.com with your player log in info, and click on the MY EVENTS tab. You will see all the events you are registered for including Regional Championships.

 

Wait Lists - Because not everyone can make it to Regional Championships, we create a waiting list. YOU MUST HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THIS WAITING LIST and will receive an invitation. It is rare that a player on the waiting list does not get a seat at Regionals. So come on out and we will see what we can do.

 

 

WHO QUALIFIES FOR A REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?

 

For a Qualified Regional Championship (at least 5 WTP bars in your “Area”), the following is a list of ways to qualify.

 

§         TOP 10 TAVERN RANKING - The Top 10 from ranked players from each Tavern (at the end of the season) automatically qualify for their Regional Championships.

 

§         SEMI-FINAL TAVERN CHAMPIONSHIPS - Any player who has won a Semi-Final Table at their Tavern Championships also qualifies. Please note, that because of the short amount of time between Tavern Championships and Regionals your name may not be on the list…BUT DON'T WORRY, YOU ARE GUARANTEED A SEAT WHEN YOU SHOW UP!

 

Other players can qualify for Regionals by

 

§         Regional Ranking: Depending on the # of local taverns and players invited, your Regional ranking can also earn you a seat in Regionals. Check the list of Qualified Players at the end of the season to see if your name is on the list.

 

§         Tavern Seat: Each Tavern gets to give away 1 seat to Regionals. Some Taverns give it to their TD, others run a special tournament.

 

 

WHAT CAN YOU WIN?

Over the past few seasons we have heard an overwhelming request for Awards versus Chip Sets as some of the prizes for Regionals.  We heard you and we are making that change immediately.

 

The winner of each Qualified Regional Championship will still win their Badge to the WTP Open and their hotel stay (2 nights for Atlantic City events and 3 nights for Las Vegas events)

 

As well, the Top Finishers at Regional Championships move on to the National Championship. (excluding the State of Michigan where it is illegal to give prizes for Hold 'Em tournaments)

 

Here is a guide to use for determining how many players will move on to Nationals

 

   

SMALLER REGIONS

In markets with less than 5 taverns participating in a Regional Championship prizes will be given out by the hosting tavern. As well, World Tavern Poker will provide the following: 

 

         1-3 Taverns = Winner receives 1 Free Badge to the World Tavern Poker Open  

        4 Taverns = Winner receives Hotel accommodations at Nationals and 1 Free Badge   to the Open

 

 

WHAT IS A BADGE TO THE WTP OPEN?

 

If you have never been to a World Tavern Poker Open you are missing the time of your life.  The WTP Open is a 3-4 day event that includes parties, private cash tournaments, the National Championship and tons of great games and prizes!

 

 

Starting in the Spring 2008 Season, Top 10 at each Single Regional (approx 120 players) will move on to the National Championship and their chance at a number of seats to World Series of Poker events!

Eastern PA / New Jersey Regional ChampionshipsQualified Players List

SUPER REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND WEEKEND PARTY!

This is going to be an awesome weekend, don't miss it!  It starts on Friday Night with 2 huge points games (over 100 players expected at each) then continues on Saturday morning with more games.  Including the 2nd Chance Tournament at 11am where the Top 6 players will get a seat in the Regional Championship!  THE TOP 24 PLAYERS WILL QUALIFY FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN LAS VEGAS!

Later in the day is the Main Event followed by another late night game.
